How long will an 8kg bag last my active dog?

Every dog is different. Size, breed, age and activity level all influence how much they need. Based on around one hour of moderate activity per day, this guide will help you choose the right pack size and delivery schedule. It’s always best to have a little extra on hand rather than not enough.

With canine obesity a major global health concern, Cape Wayfarer bases feeding recommendations on target body weight. This helps maintain healthy body composition and reduces the risk of overfeeding.

Use the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Body Condition Score guide below to identify your dog’s target score, then refer to the feeding table to calculate the appropriate daily amount.

    • For purchases for Non-Pack Membership and outside of the Cape Peninsula area a courier fee of R125 will apply.

    • Deliveries will be made by Cape Wayfarer according to the pack you choose:

      • Small Pack – 1 x 8 kg bag every month.

      • Medium Pack – 1 x 8 kg bag every 3 weeks.

      • Big Pack – 2 x 8 kg bags every month.

    • Delivery to addresses within Cape Peninsula area will occur within 2 days of your order. Confirmation date will be sent by email.

    • Generally delivery days in Cape Peninsula are as follows:

      • Atlantic Seaboard - Mon, Wed & Fri.

      • City Bowl & Waterfront - Tues & Thurs.

      • Deep South - Wed & Fri.

      • Southern Suburbs - Mon, Wed & Fri.

    • For orders received outside of Cape Town southern suburbs delivery will be within 2-3 days of order by courier at an extra charge or R125 per delivery. Dates may vary slightly depending on courier schedules and public holidays.

    • Your subscription will begin on the date of your first order.

    • Payment will be processed automatically using the card provided at checkout for each delivery cycle.

    • The price shown for your selected pack includes any applicable Pack Member discounts like free delivery.

    • If you’re considering cancelling, we’d love to understand your reasons. We’re here to listen and help in any way we can. You may pause, cancel, or change your subscription at any time before your next billing date - just reach out to us and we’ll take care of you.
